I'm not very familiar with the 1.0 Ecoboost so I couldn't tell you for sure. It's a much rarer engine. First introduced in the smaller Fiesta last year, Ford’s 1.0-liter three-cylinder EcoBoost engine joins the refreshed-for-2015 Focus lineup as a $795 option. Available only on the midlevel, SE
The Ford EcoBoost engine line spans three, four, and six-cylinder implementations, both in a straight line and V designs, with ranges running from 1.0 to 3.5 liters. The Ford EcoBoost engine family had its inaugural appearance in 2010.
Ford had trouble with the 1.0 litre three-cylinder belt cam EcoBoost because the degas pipe carrying superheated steam from the turbo to the coolant expansion tank could fail and run the engine dry of coolant. But lessons were learned and the new 1.5 three-cylinder chain cam EcoBoost should be much better. Tags: engine reliability ecoboost engine.
Various Ford EcoBoost engine issues have been outlined in great detail in the past, ranging from carbon buildup to coolant leaks in Ford’s 1.5L EcoBoost , 1.6L EcoBoost, and 2.0L EcoBoost engines used in a variety of vehicles including the Ford Escape, Ford Fusion, Ford Edge, Lincoln MKC, and Lincoln MKZ that brought on a class-action lawsuit.
No issues so far! I have a 2016 Ford Focus 1.0T eco boost and I love the thing. Fuel economy is amazing with me getting roughly 52mpg driving from Manchester to Scotland and back. 404 mile trip with 120 miles left in the tank. Many early Ecoboost engines did go kaboom but a mass recall and redesign of the coolant system fixed it.
Just curious about how many miles have people done with their cars equipped with 1.0 Ecoboost engines. Also it would be interesting to hear if you've had any problems with them and what kind of maintenance/fixing the engines have required during that mileage. My car is late 2014 model Fiesta with 125 bhp 1.0 Ecoboost.
It is a 2014 Fiesta SFE with the turbo 3 cylinder. There is no recommendation in the owner's manual for a time interval on the belt change, just every 150,000 miles. Just hit 107,000 miles and the timing belt let go. The engine had an easy life; all highway miles and full synthetic oil changes every 10,000 miles.

Hoping for some help on a problem with the Engine Warning light coming on Fiesta that my daughter has recently taken ownership of. Warning light came on after she'd driven an initial 200+ miles (on motorway journey), got reset by RAC (there diagnostic screen read-out attached), but then came on again after another 100 miles or so.
Despite the Ecoboost badge they’re all completely different motors. The 1.0 is all Ford’s own work and has a poor reputation for longevity, later cars are supposedly better but there’s still too many cases of problems flagging up. The 1.5/1.6 is basically the old belt driven Yamaha designed Zetec Se with a turbocharger.
